Most guests spend approximately 40 minutes enjoying SkipARRR’s Pirate Putt, though the length of play can vary depending on group size and how busy the attraction is. Who is SkipARRR?

SkipARRR is the bright green pirate parrot who keeps watch over SkipARRR’s Pirate Putt on Clifton Hill. With one peg leg, an eye patch, and absolutely no indoor voice, SkipARRR considers himself both a legendary pirate and the official protector of mini golf glory.

He’s known for encouraging questionable levels of family competition, celebrating hole in ones like major sporting events, and believing every lost golf ball is technically buried treasure.

Is Captain SkipARRR a real pirate?

Legally, we cannot confirm this.

But he does seem extremely confident giving pirate themed life advice to complete strangers.

What is the giant ball outside SkipARRR’s Pirate Putt?

The massive floating granite sphere outside SkipARRR’s Pirate Putt is known as a Kugel, the German word for “ball.” Installed on Clifton Hill in 2001, the rare attraction was originally part of the Guinness World of Records Museum and is believed to be the world’s largest floating granite ball. Quarried in Finland, the granite sphere weighs approximately 5 tons, while the platform beneath it weighs another 5 tons. Despite its enormous size, the ball appears to float and spin on a thin layer of pressurized water thanks to a specially engineered socket carved to the exact curvature of the sphere. Guests visiting SkipARRR’s can stop by the front entrance to see it in action and even gently rotate the massive granite ball with their hands.
